Twitter Etiquette for Your Job Search

In a twitter jungle where thousands of conversation going on simultaneously how could you add your voice, which create a favorable impression to your audience? If you are going to encourage people to follow you on Twitter, you want to make sure that they don't look at your tweets and decide you have no relevance to what they are interested in. As with other form of social media, it's not all about your tweets anyway, just like like relationship should't be all about you. In a friendship you you would never dominate the conversation all they time. Therefore experts suggest that you should spend 50% of your time listening, 25% of your time engaging (retweeting, commenting...), and only 25% generating your own material.

- So how could you create a presence on a twitterverse that will be interesting and even compelling to a prospect employer! Following are some of the ideas you could practice:

- Create a twitter account. It should be represent professional you. Use your real name with a professional headshot.

- Profile. Describe yourself as a professional and provide a link either with your online portfolio or website or linkedin.

- Get familiar with twitter: Go to https://support.twitter.com to view tutorial on how to get most out of twitter.

- Decide your area of expertise: that is related to your job field. Share information and resources that will be of interest to people in your area of interest.

- Link your twitter profile to your online portfolio, webstie or blog. If you don't have any then link it with LinkedIn.

- Follow the leaders in your field of interest and spend time listening and conversing with them.

- Use Hashtag
